Vanity Cabinet and Plumbing, Attic Access, Shower Tiling, Temporary Screening,
Day One Hundred One, 05 February, 2016
Sunday, Dianna and I put together a list of items we noticed that still needed to be done or corrected, so a lot of the next few posts will be focused on those sorts of items.
The vanity cabinet with additional bracing, is in place.

The attic access hatch has been spruced up, drywalled, textured,
painted, an actual cover for a hatch, that sort of thing. It's really
hard from the photo below, just what you're looking at. Trust me, it's
the attic access, looking up through the upper closet shelf from the
floor. That orange thing is a ladder.

The piping had holes accurately cut and the cabinet is now positioned properly in it's final location.

Omar has been able to get a good start on tiling the shower floor.

He has been very careful to maintain a slope towards the drain. Here, he's double-checking the slope.

We've finally got the temporary screen in place. Eventually, a screen door will go there. On the other side, will be a landing slab holding a circular metal staircase going up to the flat deck that we will use as an observation deck. It will also provide easy access to check the roof and gutters, and for me to work on the weather station, which right now isn't working, but I have high hopes to get that back on track.

The house is looking great Dave!
Your guys seem to be very dedicated and professional. Are most of them trained "on the job" or is there anywhere (like a technical school) that they could attend? Bear in mind that I think many times on the job training can be superior if you have a good teacher.
Anyhow, it is looking very good. How hard was it to get the spiral staircase made? Just curious...

Hi Julian,
Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, these guys have been fun to work with. As far as I know, there's little to no training programs or apprenticeships. It's pretty much all OJT. The Institute for Technical & Vocational Education & Training (ITVET Corozal)(http://corozal.bz/itvet)and several other towns around the country, does offer training in several trades and professional development.
The only people I've met that have taken ITVET courses have been electricians. I've never met anyone else that has done work for us who has taken any formal training for their trade.
I haven't tackled the spiral staircase yet. That's a future project down the road. I'm hoping in a year or two for that.
