The last day of hurricane season, November 30th, is but twenty-three days and a wake-up away, but don't relax just yet. Why, you ask? The weather reports for both the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific show no storms or other systems tracking our way "Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.". Why not relax? It's over for the year, isn't it?
Well, not quite. Why, it was just back in 2007, December to be exact. December 10th through the 16th. Tropical Storm Olga came roaring in to the Caribbean with 60 MPH winds and eventually killed 40 people.
By the time Olga came near Belize and headed up the Yucatan Channel, all that was left was a small cluster of intense thunderstorms, but her configuration remained fairly-well defined as it approached our coast, giving all of us here a severe case of the jitters, especially after Hurricane Dean in August.
Olga helped make 2007's hurricane season one of the few with storm activity both before and after the official dates for hurricane season.
So, just a word to the wise, don't begin putting your hurricane supplies and your evacuation kit away just yet. I'd wait till at least December 15th. Sleep lightly.

I guess were I to live in the middle of a bull's eye then I would be rather paranoid myself. You handle it quite well!!
Bye the way, did you ever see the Far Side strip where the two bears were standing up and the one with the cross-hairs from the rifle scope on his chest was pointing frantically to his partner??
No real reason for the last paragraph, just made me thing of you, standing there with Rina coming in, and pointing to the North!! LOL
Take care,
Julian
My favorite of Gary Larson's was the one of the Crisis Clinic building, on fire and floating down the river.
