Return to San Pedro

First thing Wednesday morning, like about 6:00 AM, Elsie had to hot-foot it down to the dive boat to get out to the Blue Hole. She's diving with Ambergris Divers (http://www.ambergrisdivers.com).

She's underway in the shot below, heading out at about 6:10 AM. Dianna got an email from her today (Thursday) saying she was going to dive again today and would probably be returning to Corozal on Friday.

While Elsie went diving, Dianna and I hiked over to take a look at the Hummingbird Rattan furniture display room that is here at San Pedro. Hummingbird is made up at Belmopan in Belize and we really like the looks of it online (http://www.hummingbirdrattan.com), so thought it was worth inspecting up close.

On our way, we passed several examples of nice looking lilies and orchids just out there growing. Here's one that we've dubbed a spider lilly.

Near the Hummingbird showroom, was this interesting sign that took a while to interpret.
Say What?
After looking at the furniture, we went back toward the hotel. Along the way, we passed the dock for TMM Yacht Charters (http://www.sailtmm.com) and stopped to take a tour of one of their catamarans - not that I would want one or anything...

We looked at a Lagoon 40 - a forty-foot owner's suite configured cat. Nice rig.

Stern of the cat. The guys at TMM were getting it ready to head out for a week's bareboat charter. Wish it was us.

After touring the boat, I headed up to the TMM offices to pick up a brochure. On entering the office, I met Socks, one of the harder working crew members, I'm sure. He was quite comfortable.

Once Dianna and I checked out of Ruby's we walked down to the airport to Aztec Airlines Terminal. After going outside to sit, since it was too cold in the building, we got a rare treat - a Mexican Government helicopter arriving with what turned out to be the advance party for Mexican Presidente Calderon, who, along with the host, Prime Minister Said Mussa of Belize, the Presidents of Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, etc., are all getting together at Victoria House (the spendiest digs on the caye ($375 - #3590 per night) (http://victoria-house.com/) on San Pedro for an anti-drug summit. Place will probably be crawling with security, media, and assorted hangers-on. It was a good time to fly back to Corozal.
