Mrs. June's Kitchen

You say you want a good breakfast, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, toast, coffee, and orange juice? Well, Monday through Friday, get over to Mrs. June's. She'll feed you all you need.

Oh, you need some sweet bread to get you through the rest of the week? She'll gladly sell you a loaf or two. How about a couple of slices of pumpkin cake? Yummers.

On Saturday, Mrs. June only serves lunch. Lunch in Belize is a big meal, usually consisting of rice and beans - a dish that has rice and beans, and is accompanied by chicken, beef, or fish. Lunch is the big meal of the day. She only does it on Saturdays because that's the day she does all her baking for the week.

As if that wasn't enough, you want something catered? Let Mrs. June know. A few days ago, we were there having lunch. She was hard at work prepping a spread for the northern Belize police, for 40 officers and staff. The largest group she's catered was 400!

Mrs. June used to cook for the Corozal Primary School for about 1200 students a day, so big crowds don't faze her.
If you think her kitchen looks homey, you're right! It is. Her restaurant is in her home. She converted her front patio area into a three table restaurant - complete with Soca music on CD. She does all the cooking from her home's kitchen. And it's good!
