Something New to Read

Helga and Christl are two Swiss expats who were living here in Corozal. Helga returned to Vienna (just the name alone is romantic) for a hip operation. She now has a full-time job there and her sister Christl is returning to Vienna soon as well (Soon enough that we bought her bed during her garage sale).

During Helga's second year in Corozal she wrote a book - Escaping the Rat Race - Freedom in Paradise. Living, working, investing, and retiring in Belize and has just been published by World Audience in New York.

Helga conducted interviews with expatriates in San Pedro (Ambergris Cay) and wrote their "so very interesting stories and the stories of some Belizean friends in San Pedro".

You can buy Escaping the Rat Race on Amazon.com. Simply click the link or enter the book's title or the author's name - Helga Peham, to find it.

Helga says the stories give lots of information for Belize lovers and wanna-be's.

All of us here in Corozal will miss Helga and Christl a lot. We look forward to them at least spending some vacation time here in paradise.

Hi Helga and Christl,

It's so nice to hear from you after all this time.

First, let me apologize for screwing up your country name. That was truly a bonehead mistake.

I wrote the post about you. I'm glad you liked it.

BTW, we're still using the bed that we bought from you as well as the two night stands. I'm sure you wouldn't recognize any of them. We had an upholstered headboard made for the bed and Dianna applied mosaic tiles to the tops of the night stands.

We remember talking to you both at the friendship luncheons, which still go on at the Purple Toucan.

Although I can't say we were good friends, it was sad for us when you both left.

Likewise, we hope to see you again sometime.

Cheers,
Dave and Dianna

PS - It's most unusual and very cool for this blog to have someone comment on a posting that's about four years old. Thank you. - d
