Ok, here we go with Tuesday, The start of the workweek because of the Pan-American holiday on Monday.
Day Nineteen - 14 October, 2015
Quicker than it seems possible, blocks are already being moved into position on the floor to be assembled into walls for our house.

Blocks Being Lined Up |
A necessary part of the process is mapping out on the floor where everything will go. Since drawings, no matter how good, are only an approximation of reality, a big part of the mapping process is to make the approximation fit the reality of the physical space. Each measurement requires a bit of interpretation before the application. Case in point: Below, a few minutes are consumed to determine the exact location of the screen door.

Figuring Just Where the Screen Door Will Go |
Here's the actual start of the walls. The first block has been laid and is being checked for level and square. Progress.

First Block Being Set |
And, boom! Just like that, we have a real wall happening before our eyes. Actually, this took most of the day to get that far. But, still. It's real progress and it looks great.

Looing Nice and Even |
It's becoming easier to imagine a house now. This is interesting for us at this stage. Each house we've built before, I built a model so we could get an idea of how it looked in three dimensions. This house has been different. We've only had two-dimensional drawings. Oh sure, the software provided a rather cheesy 3-D effect, but it required more work for little gain, so we ignored it. This will be the first chance we have to see if the design will look good in 3-D. Keep your fingers crossed!

One Can Imagine A House Now |
Here's the second course beginning on the south inner wall. If you're confused by
'inner' and '
outer' walls, just wait. All will be revealed and made clear soon. In short '
outer' walls refer to the wall encompassing the walkway or veranda. '
Inner' walls refer to the walls comprising the actual rooms of the house itself - inside the veranda.

Second Course on Inner Wall |
Here's the first blocks laid that start the inner walls. Just too much progress to keep track of all the time.
