We spent the afternoon taking the other half of the awning down, rolled up the pool cover and stored and the reel in the breezeway; rounded up all sorts of loose lumber that Carlos was using on the patio project, put the grill in the pool pump house, deck chairs in there as well; potted plants off the pool deck.

Tomorrow, we'll put the plywood up on the windows and all that sort of stuff. Good practice even if we don't need it.

I know a lot of folks think I'm nuts doing all this early. Me, I'd rather get it down and watch the storm come in. Just seems easier that way.

Gas tank's full, flashlights are at hand. candles, 4-way radio is all set. Quick run to score some canned dog food in the morning and we're set for the long haul.

Yeh, we're keeping an eye on it.

Cheers,
DaveDave Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15038109966699072504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-80197079599325862082011-10-24T14:21:26.935-06:002011-10-24T14:21:26.935-06:00Hmmm... just tried to send you a comment but the s...Hmmm... just tried to send you a comment but the screen said couldn't do it.

Just hoping you're keeping an eye on Rita.

JulianJRinSChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07221452682380379316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-52537304144288335622011-10-22T03:42:38.956-06:002011-10-22T03:42:38.956-06:00Hi Houseboatwayne,

That is, 'US Twenty-seven dollars' or 'Twenty-seven US dollars'. Not always, though.

Good luck with your quest, and feel free to ask away.

Cheers,
DaveDave Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15038109966699072504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-90604435381297935392011-10-21T14:02:30.487-06:002011-10-21T14:02:30.487-06:00Dave and Dianna,

My wife and I live a lake bum lifestyle on a houseboat so Belize sounds like our kind of place. We are planning a trip down there next year to get a feel so the place. Also I hope you don't mind but I'll probably start peppering you with questions over the next couple of months.

So here is my first question :}
I'm able to stream Channel 7 news and enjoy watching it just to get a feel of Belize. But they say dollar a lot and I'm curious are they talking about BZ dollars or US dollars?Houseboatwaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11500681645142034816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-23227472754220393452011-10-21T11:59:07.402-06:002011-10-21T11:59:07.402-06:00Got it Dave - ThanksGot it Dave - ThanksAlannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-55190316473550841212011-10-20T19:25:12.645-06:002011-10-20T19:25:12.645-06:00Hi Alan,

If you click on the weather station icon on the blog, when the Weather Underground comes up, you might want to check in the upper right-hand corner of that page - you can select Fahrenheit or Celsius.

If that's not it, let me know what URL you're getting my weather station from and I'll try to track it down.

Cheers,
DaveDave Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15038109966699072504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-87565118532944169192011-10-20T17:58:51.061-06:002011-10-20T17:58:51.061-06:00Dave - is there a reason why your weather station ...Dave - is there a reason why your weather station readings are in metric - I find it difficult to follow. - AlanAlannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-65234112013316278562011-10-20T09:58:15.049-06:002011-10-20T09:58:15.049-06:00Hmmmpphh.. The Hoh Rain Forest on the western side of the park gets anywhere from 140 to 170 inches of rain a year. Spectacular place to visit as well.

Cheers,
DaveDave Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15038109966699072504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-4174087745841166852011-10-19T14:53:55.415-06:002011-10-19T14:53:55.415-06:00Hi Julian,

Hiked over to the hot springs about nine at night, thinking we'd be able to take a dip and then crawl into our tent. All of the pools were full of people. Ended up going there about five in the morning and found an empty pool in a driving snow storm. Was it ever nice, skinny-dipping and all in the storm. Water was hot.
This was several years ago. At that time, the lodge there wasn't operating.
Hurricane Ridge is spectacular. The mountain goats there aren't native, but they still look cool.
It's a great place to go. Just don't stray off the trails. Easy place to get lost and into trouble - seriously.

Cheers,
DaveDave Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15038109966699072504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-64625472809975811752011-10-19T10:13:54.474-06:002011-10-19T10:13:54.474-06:00Hey Dave,

True rain forest (I think) is more down around Punta Gorda and some other southern areas.

We are, however, getting more than our share of rain. Our road has been in a constant state of muck for quite a while now. In fact, we've only been able to walk the dogs about 1 out of every 4 or 5 days for weeks now.

I've heard our temp may be dropping on Thursday. Don't know how far other than it's supposed to be cold (for us anyway).Dave Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15038109966699072504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9432310.post-87567336781021590582011-10-18T15:04:55.392-06:002011-10-18T15:04:55.392-06:00Arn't you pretty close to a real, honest to go...Arn't you pretty close to a real, honest to goodness Rain Forest??
