So, It Starts Again...

Two-thirty A.M. this morning, the bed shakes, the walls creak... No, it really wasn't like that for me. the earthquake just off of Honduras apparently woke me up, but I thought it was just me waking up at almost my usual time. I don't recall feeling a thing.

Our neighbors, Doug and Twyla, said, when I got to their place for dog-walking this morning, that the quake had awakened them. Cody, our caretaker, also said his house was rocking.

Anyway, damage, apparently light, occurred in Placencia, and the community water tower in Mango Creek, collapsed. Major bummer for them, i'm sure.

And then, just a little bit ago, this:

This one, first of the season is up somewhere around Cape Hatteras. So, I start checking my Yahoo Hurricane Monitor every morning, first thing. It's a great widget. If you don't have it, I highly recommend it. Andy Ladner has done an outstanding job making it an inobtrusive, yet comprehensive tool that really works well.

I'll post a copy of my Hurricane Preparedness Checklist here soon, and maybe add some stuff for earthquake preparedness as well.

  1. Brother Dave - Glad the Earthquake didn't waken you or Diana! We think of you two every time there's mention of C America in the news. Hope all's well and wishing you a quiet hurricaine season!

  2. Bro. Jon - I copied the email I tried sending to you which errored out twice... Is there a problem with your email provider/account/ISP? - d

    Bro. Jon,

Thank you so much for the nice wishes. I think of you guys often as well, like last fall about the time of the wine bottling. We really do miss those affairs.

Take care. Keep Bro. Bulloch in line too.

    Fraternally,

    Dave and Dianna

Not very good, but that's all that is available right now.
